Community Living North Bay’s Employment Service is getting ready to recognize local employer champions and their employees, and draw attention to their contributions to the local economy.

They’re hosting Thursday’s Battalion game, as a part of Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Employment Specialist Mackenzie Mannering says they help to identify business needs and help to match people to those needs.

We work with employers, it’s a dynamic process where we work with them to become disability confident and help them realize the economic benefit of being an inclusive employer,” she says.

John McLellan is the Troops’ Senior Manager Marketing & Business Development.

He says this will be the second annual Disability Employment Awareness Night.

“We know there’s a lot of businesses in the community that support Community Living North Bay and all the great things that they do, and they’re also sponsors of the North Bay Battalion, so if we get that message out to our fans, it’s a win-win for everybody,” he says.

The Ontario Disability Employment Network reports 16 percent of Canadians have a disability which means people with disabilities, along with their families, comprise 53 percent of the marketplace.

That disability market represents a huge opportunity for businesses.

Those businesses looking to get involved can visit the Employment First North Bay Facebook Page or Community Living North Bay’s website to get in touch with them.
