Walmart officials say they’re working to make sure North Bay’s store is safe and up to the standards that customers expect before reopening.

The retailer is closed for clean-up and repairs and will reopen as soon as possible after Friday’s fire inside the store.

In a statement, they say safety of their associates and customers is a top priority.

They also say associates are being paid for their scheduled shifts and the store is working on a plan to support pharmacy customers.

Here’s the full statement provided:

“Friday evening emergency services attended to a fire at our North Bay Walmart store. Thankfully, all associates and customers are safe. The store is currently closed as we carry out the necessary clean-up and repairs. The store will reopen as soon as possible while we work with officials to ensure the store is safe and up to the standards our customers expect and deserve.
This will unfortunately impact many of our customers and associates in the middle of the pandemic. We are working closely with officials as they investigate.
The safety of our associates and customers is a top priority at Walmart and we want to thank all first responders who attended.
Walmart will absolutely support our associates while the store is closed. They will be paid for their scheduled shifts.
We are working on a plan to support our pharmacy customers.”
