Canadore says a member of the college community has reported they’ve tested positive for COVID-19.

Officials say the person is isolating and believes they were exposed through travel.

The college also says there’s no evidence of on-campus transmission and on-campus activity continues.

Canadore is not commenting on whether the person is an employee or student, and has confirmed the person has not been on campus and continues to work/study remotely.

In a release, the college says they have an extensive pandemic plan in place. Every student and employee must pass an online COVID-19 self-assessment, which asks about possible symptoms and exposure, before being allowed into any campus building.

Once inside a campus building, everyone must wear a facial covering (non-medical masks) and, if their program requires it, personal protective equipment (PPE) is also mandatory. There are enhanced cleaning and sanitizing routines and physical distancing measures are also in place.

“On behalf of the College community, I wish a speedy recovery to the person affected,” said Canadore President George Burton. “The health and safety of everyone remains our number one priority, and we all have a role to play to protect ourselves and our colleagues.”

Canadore encourages everyone to remain vigilant while on-campus and off campus.
