North Bay OPP say a 54 year old man from Timmins has died in a single vehicle collision on Highway 11 near Tilden Lake.

Police say on Wednesday near 5 p.m. a southbound vehicle lost control and collided with a rock cut.

The highway was closed for four hours as OPP investigated.

North Bay OPP are looking for a suspect after a break-in to a basement apartment on Hwy 17 in East Ferris last night.
Provincial Police say the tenant came home just before 1030 pm and found a man inside, who fled on foot.
Several items were stolen:
– Grey/black Element backpack
– Xbox 360 with controller
– Older Dell laptop computer
– Navy blue Adidas backpack with orange stripes
– Montreal Canadiens memorabilia
– Wallet containing identification
– Black Snap-On hooded sweatshirt, size XL
– White and black purse with wallet
Police say the homeowners, who reside upstairs, were home at the time but were not aware of the break and enter in progress.
They also say further investigation revealed a number of vehicles had been entered and rummaged through. Officers also discovered another break and enter at an adjacent residence.
The suspect is described as caucasian, 5’8” with a thin build, wearing a black ski mask, black clothing and carrying a couple stolen backpacks.
The investigation is continuing with the assistance of members from the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS).

A close call this week for a 37 year old motorist from Garson.

BayToday says she swerved to avoid a moose and the SUV she was driving on Highway 535 near Noelville ended up in a pond.

Fortunately, she climbed onto the roof before the vehicle submerged.

She was rescued by the French River Fire Department.
