The Medical Officer of Health Dr. Jim Chirico says due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in the district he is not recommending trick-or-treating locally.

He says people need to act now and stop the spread of the virus and taking part in Halloween could allow COVID-19 to spread more easily.

His suggestions include having a virtual costume show with your friends, spending time bonding with those in your household by making homemade treats and decorations, picking out some Halloween themed books to read together, decorate your house with a Halloween theme, have your own monster mash dance party with people in your household and have contactless delivery of spooky crafts or treats with friends and family.

(flu shots)

If you’re looking to book a flu shot appointment with the Health Unit you’ll have to wait a bit.

Officials say they’re not accepting any more appointment bookings until the first week of November.

They also point out they’re now booking appointments into mid-November.

This after above average requests for the flu shot.

Details will be announced in the coming weeks about community flu shot clinics.
