Tomorrow (Tues) is a big day for the Capitol Centre.
They’re hosting their Streamathon 10-20-20 with a number of local artists performing in the live streamed fundraiser for the arts and entertainment hub.
Headliner Cory Marks says the pandemic has had an impact on everyone, including the Capitol Centre.
“This is something for the city to look forward to and, of course, help the Capitol Centre survive because without donations and the fact that they couldn’t have any shows or performances this year because of COVID, it’s tough just like any business in town to stay alive and stay afloat,” he says.
Marks says there won’t be a crowd inside the Capitol Centre, but he’s looking forward to performing there.
“My tour ended with Gord Bamford five or six months ago and I haven’t really stepped on an actual stage since, so it’s been a tough year. I’m looking forward to being back on a stage and especially the biggest stage in my hometown of North Bay, at the Capitol Centre,” he says.
Tomorrow’s event will also include live performances from Northfacing Folk, Rose Erin Stokes, Josh Dimmel and JakeThomas.
The unique event will stream live to the Capitol Centre’s Facebook page beginning at 6 pm.
Marks’ new album ‘Who I Am’, meantime, has garnered about 25 million streams globally and one of his songs is getting air play in Europe too.
“I believe the first time ever a Canadian country artist is at Rock Radio in the UK and in Germany, and that song is ‘Blame It On The Double’. The numbers have been phenomenal there and they continue to climb every day,” he says.
