A star-studded line-up of virtual events is all set for North Bay Pride this weekend.

It all starts with a talent show tonight at 8 pm, followed by ‘The Launch’ winner Logan Staats.

Bif Naked performs tomorrow with Colin Mochrie the headliner on Sunday.

Media Coordinator Jason Maclennan tells BayToday North Bay Pride usually takes place in July, but the pandemic changed things this year. He says as the summer came along they realized large gatherings just weren’t going to be possible.

“Lots of Pride organizations were cancelling, a lot of them were going virtual and the majority cancelled this year as we found. But, we still wanted to do stuff and with government grants and our sponsors we were able to work in a way that would take us virtual,” he says.

Maclennan says they wanted to make sure they included people in the event too.

“We wanted to make sure we included a local talent show for some folks to share their talents, whether that’s a drag performance, a comedian, a drum player or couple singers from town, we wanted to be able to showcase that,” he tells BayToday.

Maclennan says both Bif Naked and Colin Mochrie are coming to North Bay for their online shows.

“We just have to keep reminding people it is virtual, people keep calling the Capitol Centre asking where they can purchase tickets. There’s no tickets to purchase it’s all free and being streamed from the Capitol Centre,” he adds.
