A couple of early morning fires on York Street have city police investigating.

Police say around 3 am they were called about a fire in recycle bins which was extinguished by police and the property owner.

Then about a half hour later they were contacted about a second fire in a garbage can and recycling bin that spread to a home on the 400 block of York Street .

Police went inside and safely removed a resident.

The fire was contained using extinguishers until city fire crews arrived and put the fire out.

Police advise this is an active criminal investigation. They are seeking anyone with relevant information to contact the North Bay Police Service at 705-497-5555 (select option 9 to speak to a police officer)
