A recent report indicated that 50% of 2SLGBTQ+ youth are living below the poverty line with an income of $15,000 or less per year.

Media Coordinator on behalf of the Board of Directors for North Bay Pride Jason Maclennan says there’s a need for various programs that support young people.

He says to that end a recent organization called Outloud North Bay has been formed and North Bay Pride is paying 20 one-month memberships for youth who need some assistance.

Maclennan says he hopes this will give some of the youth without the financial means a chance to participate in programs offered by Outloud.

Maclennan says due to financial difficulties the risk of suicide of trans and queer youth is 14 times higher, which demonstrates the need for various programs that support young people.

Any youth who wish to request the free one month membership, please email jasonmaclennan2019@gmail.com with your name, age, address and phone number. No information provided will be shared.
