Another major award win for local FIRST Robotics Team 1305.
They’re one of three robotics teams in Ontario to receive the Chairman’s Award.
The award honours the team that best represents a model for others to emulate and best embodies the purpose and goals of FIRST.
Judges commented that, “The partnership between the team (1305) and the community year after year is truly impressive.”
“We are so excited to win this award! It’s a full team effort. 1305 has been around for a long time and we are thankful that our alumni have provided a strong foundation for our team,” says Michelle DeLoyde, one of the team’s presenters.

With the win the local team would’ve qualified for Worlds for the 18th time in their 20th season, however COVID-19 impacted the season and several competitions this year.

DeLoyde says it’s not official yet but they may be able to use their robot they built this year for next years events.

“They are looking at the game the robot would compete in for next year be the same as this past year so we may be allowed to use the same robot but things are still up in the air on that,” she says.
