A 6th round pick of the North Bay Battalion is taking part this week in a national Program of Excellence goaltending camp.

Domenic DiVincentiis says due to COVID-19 the camp is being held online.

He’s one of twelve chosen at the under 17 level and one of 23 overall.

“As a family it was something that we thought would never happen It was an ecstatic moment. No one had words to show how excited we were. Being selected by your country is fantastic and it’s a great feeling,” he says.

He says his important qualities are staying calm and focused while between the pipes.

DiVincentiis says he’s excited about coming to North Bay.

“Being drafted by North Bay is a cherry on top and I can’t wait to get there and get on the ice. Hopefully, we’ll get through this virus and it’ll be cool to meet everyone,” DiVincentiis says.

Corbeil’s Ben Gaudreau who plays for Sarnia was also named to the camp.
