A North Bay man in his 50’s has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and two counts of assault.

Police say early on Thursday at around 1:50 am they were called to a Main Street residence.

Police say a man and woman were engaged in a verbal argument that became physical when the woman was grabbed and an attempt was made to strangle her.

The executive director of Victim Services of Nipissing District, says these are challenging times with people still self-isolating and it can make home situations even harder.

Kathleen Jodouin says Victim Services is still available for support and you do not need to remain in a dangerous situation. Support is just a phone call away at 705-472-2649.
