The Ontario Government has announced phase one of its re-opening plan.

Nipissing Vic Fedeli says some changes take effect this weekend.

“We’ll see golf courses and marinas being able to open as of midnight Friday so book your Saturday tee time and you’re good to go,” he says.

Fedeli says other services will take effect on Tuesday including retail stores being allowed to open but all businesses that open should follow the Ministry of Labour guidelines.

“We encourage employers to go on the government web site at www.ontario.ca/covid-19. It’s important they understand the physical distance guidelines in retail,” Fedeli says.

He says limits are still on crowd sizes meaning only five and under are being accepted.

Fedeli says pet grooming will start next week.

But malls, hair salons and restaurants will remain closed for now while the province watches to see if lifting the restrictions leads to a sudden increase in COVID-19 cases.

Fedeli says construction starts up again next Tuesday.

“Fourteen and a half million people have made a tremendous sacrifice over the last two months. Let’s not have it all for nought,” he says.

He says they’re taking a measured approach to dealing with this virus

“The numbers continue to come down. We’ll continue to monitor them on a day by day basis but the health and well being of the citizens is our absolute number one priority,” Fedeli says.
