North Bay Police report one person has died and another was taken to hospital after a vehicle drove into the Levase River at the boat launch area of Champlain Park in North Bay.

Emergency crews were called just after midnight this morning.

Police and Emergency Services removed one person from the vehicle who was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The second person, who is believed to have been the driver, succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation continues.
