The North Bay Battalion have made their choice.

The OHL Priority Selection is tomorrow but per tradition the team with the first pick lets their intentions be known a day before the event.

The Troops have chosen defenseman Ty Nelson.

He says he’s played against a few of his new teammates.

“Getting to play against Liam Arnsby and the Christopoulos twins was amazing. They’re great players and hard to play against. They will definitely make me a better player,” he says.

Last season, the 16 year old played with the Toronto Junior Canadiens and notched 32 points in 33 games. He’s 5’8” , weighs 172 lbs. and shoots right.

Director of Scouting Charles Abbott on why Nelson’s the right choice.

“The way he skates, shoots the puck and processes the game are key. He can play in all situations including five on five, penalty kill and power play. What really attracted us are his many x factors like leadership,” Abbott says.

General Manager Adam Dennis says he will fit in perfectly with the talented and intense team they’re developing.
