The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority have issued a Watershed Conditions Statement – Flood Outlook.

The forecasted warm temperatures and heavy precipitation are likely to increase the melting of snowpack and river ice, resulting in runoff and increased levels.

Widespead rainfall is expected to start Saturday in parts of the North Bay District.

The Conservation Authority says this is the third flood outlook they’ve had this spring.

Officials say the move was prompted by the forecasted 30-35 mm of rain overall this weekend.

The rain isn’t forecasted to start in North Bay until late Saturday with 20 mm possible on Sunday.
