For the first time, a uniform member of the OPP has tested presumptive positive for COVID-19.

Police say the member who is serving with the Nipissing West detachment is in isolation and recovering at home.

The member’s name and specific work location is being withheld for privacy reasons.

The OPP says they were made aware of the diagnosis last Saturday.

The OPP says they’re committed to the health and safety of their members and will continue to make decisions that help limit the spread of COVID-19 in the communities they serve.

Meantime, BayToday says Dr. Glenn Corneil, Acting Medical Officer of Health for the Timiskaming Health Unit, has confirmed the first positive case of COVID-19 in the district of Timiskaming.
