Updating the taxi bylaw to include ride share companies and other initiatives has passed another step.

Police Chief Scott Tod tells BayToday the Police Services Board has given their input.

“Some of the changes will be incorporated into the draft bylaw and they’ll be publically shared within the next two weeks, we hope,” he said after Tuesday’s Police Services Board meeting.

Tod also says there are more steps to the process.

“We’d like to give the ride share industry and the taxi industry time to digest it, consult with their experts and report back to us, then look at the comments that they provide to us and also the public comments and shortly after that address the public concern, the industry concerns in a town hall meeting,” he says.

After a couple of town hall meetings the bylaw will come back to the board, with any changes, for approval.
