Ontario’s English Catholic teachers are planning on holding another province-wide one-day strike, next Tuesday, February 4th.

The last walkout resulted in all Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic Board Schools being closed for the day last week.

The union represents all teachers, both elementary and secondary, at the board.

Meantime, a government-appointed mediator has called the province and the union representing public elementary school teachers back to the negotiating table.
The talks Wednesday will be the first between the two sides since December 19th.
The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario says it’s optimistic the government will engage in meaningful bargaining.
Education Minister Stephen Lecce says he hopes the union will come to the table with realistic proposals that put students ahead of wage demands. (The Canadian Press)
