The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario says as of next Monday public elementary school educators including those in the North Bay area will no longer supervise extra-curricular activities nor will they participate in field trips if the government refuses to address critical issues in talks.

And ETFO says a full withdrawal of services on a rotating basis will start the following Monday if there aren’t improvements by the end of next week.

ETFO President Sam Hammond says in six months of contract talks, the Ford government’s education minister has given his negotiators no mandate to discuss anything other than cuts to education including a $150 million cut to public elementary education.

He says their key issues are supports for Special Education, protecting the Kindergarten model, addressing classroom-based violence and compensation that keeps up with the cost of inflation.
