The North Bay Fire Department says the Fire Marshal’s office will not be doing an investigation into last week’s major fire downtown.

Chief Jason Whiteley told BayToday they continue to investigate and are classifying the fire as suspicious at this point.

There’s no dollar estimate of damage yet but it will be at least $2 million.

He says this was a stubborn fire to fight under challenging conditions and received plenty of support from businesses and the community.

He says it was a real team effort with North Bay Police, the North Bay Paramedic services, North Bay Hydro, Enbridge Gas, Red Cross, as well as several City departments including: Transit, Public Works, Building and the fleet mechanics all assisting.
