The inaugural Bay Block Party is taking over Main Street, between Fraser and Wyld tomorrow (Saturday).

Event Chair Ryan Humble, Rae Brenne of the DIA and Lou Dawgs GM Frankie Dumont joined us this morning to talk about the event. Check out the full interview here.

The North Bay Real Estate Board has partnered up with Downtown North Bay, Creative Industries and Tourism North Bay to host the free, all ages event.

Along with kids activities, chair Ryan Humble says there’s plenty of music lined up.

“We have a great line-up of local musicians, as well as Juno Award-winning band The Dirty Nil and Pat Robitaille, two members that aren’t local, but beyond that we’re all about supporting local,” he says.

Rae Brenne with Downtown North Bay says there’s also ‘Food Fest’, which involves two components.

The first is a food court with vendors set up in the Guardian Drugs parking lot.

The second component is a self-guided downtown food tour.

“You’ll be able to purchase tickets, each ticket will cost $6, and there’s a few different restaurants that you can visit to redeem that ticket for a menu item,” she says.

The tickets will be available at the food tour tent, which will be set up in the food court area.

A new restaurant that’s coming downtown, Lou Dawgs Southern BBQ, is sponsoring the main stage at the Bay Block Party.

They’re going to be located in the Old Chicago Cafe on the 100 block of Main West.

General Manager Frankie Dumont says she’ll be outside their new location to answer any questions, including when they plan on opening.

“We’re really excited for the fall, so were hoping for mid-October 2019, so this year, just a few months away. Renovations start this week,” she says.

They’re all about serving ‘Blues, Bourbon, Beer & Goodtimes in North Bay’.
