We told you last week some of the items stolen in a robbery at Pearls downtown were recovered when police made a drug-related arrest.

Co-owner of Pearls, Sue Middaugh says not all of the items stolen were recovered.

She’s glad some have, but she’s had to re-live the break-in.

“This is jewellery, you can’t just throw it in a bag and run off with it without making some kind of a mess,” she says.

Meantime, she’s is reacting to word that a new committee has been formed, and a recommendation that a mental health and addiction provider be hired.

“That poor person would be extremely overwhelmed with what’s going on down here. It seems like they want to put everything onto committee and nobody wants to embrace the severity of the problems going on down here,” Middaugh says.

She says if action isn’t taken, and soon, more businesses will close.

That committee is scheduled to unveil a list of action items later this week.
