The province will be replacing the Tilden Lake Dam.

Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry John Yakabuski with the $6 million announcement.

He says this isn’t just about replacing the dam which was built almost 60 years ago.

“The dam is reaching an age where it needs to be replaced but it’s also a dam that needs to be re-designed for today’s operations as well. There will be some changes to the new dam,” he says.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says this project will also be good for the local economy.

“All the construction workers will be staying in North Bay hotels, they’re all paying for their meals here and all of the equipment and material for this job comes form North Bay including the concrete,” he says.
