The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry have extended the flood warning for the North Bay area until early next week.

Officials say the major reason they’re doing this is the possibility of an added 30 mm of rain over the next two days.

In Mattawa, water levels had been trending down for several days but the recent rainfall caused an increase in water levels.

The situation is currently described as stable.

Lake Nipissing’s level is also described as stable but the winds could change during tomorrow’s rain.

Officials say this could bring a surge on the eastern end of Lake Nipissing and could pose a threat to properties along the Lake Nipissing and Callander Bay shoreline as well as along the lower La Vase River.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s extension is until next Tuesday and the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority’s extension is until next Monday.
