The Discovery Routes ReCycle Bikes Program is up and running again this year.

Back in 2015, the program started out as an initiative involving youth bikes being donated, but has since expanded to adult bikes, too.

Executive Director Jennifer McCourt says the program is a success thanks to the public.

“The community is so generous, we have collected over 200 since the beginning of the program, over 200 bikes have been tuned up and have gotten back onto the trails,” she says.

Right now they’re looking for bikes to be donated by local residents.

“That maybe their kids have grown out of, or they have been sitting in the garage for a while and aren’t being used,” McCourt says. “The YMCA accepts those donations, so you can drop them off at the YMCA (anytime before June 23rd.”

In exchange for each donated bicycle in good condition, Discovery Routes will issue a $25 charitable tax receipt.

The program is also accepting cash donations online to cover the costs of parts and other program expenses.
