Highway 17 East of Mattawa is back open.

Ontario 511 reports the roadway was reopened just after 11 o’clock this morning.

It was closed early Monday morning after flooding in Bissett Creek.

The MTO says a short section of the highway has gravel overtop the newly place culvert.

Officials advise drivers to take caution and follow the signage.  They say permanent paving will take place in the next few weeks.

The ministry says they will continue monitoring the area on a daily basis.

Earlier this week they reported crews had to repair massive damage to the shoulder and embankment on both sides of the highway, while a culvert was under about nine metres of water.

Once again, Highway 17 East of Mattawa is back open.
