The flood warning that has been in place since last Thursday has been extended by the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority to this Thursday.

The authority says water levels are expected to continue to rise over the next few days with the forecasted precipitation and continued snowmelt.

Watercourses such as Chippewa Creek are returning to more normal levels but may respond quickly if there’s an intense rain event.

Meantime, The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry – North Bay District is advising area residents that a Flood Watch continues to be in effect in the northern portion of the District which includes the upper reaches of the Sturgeon River Watershed as well as southern portions of the District on the Restoule, Pickerel and Wolf Rivers.

That is until Friday.
