The North Bay Battalion got closer to a playoff spot last night with a convincing 6-2 win over Barrie.

The Troops raced off to a 3-1 first period lead and were never in trouble.
Justin Brazeau paced the attack with 3 goals giving him 58 for the year. Assistant coach Scott Wray says some line juggling paid off.

“We felt that guys got stale. Stan Butler made some line changes and it created a spark and some guys got going,” he says.

Mason Primeau added a pair of goals.

Wray came away impressed with 1 of Primeau’s markers.

“He’s a big body and down low he uses his size very well. And on that 2nd goal he did a good job coming out of the corner, used his wrist shot and picked the corner. It was a big man’s play,” Wray says.

The Troops lead Barrie by 5 points in the battle for the final playoff spot in the east but are only 2 back of Hamilton who they host tomorrow.

Brad Chenier also scored for North Bay. The Troops outshot the Colts 34-19 and scored 3 powerplay goals.
