Expect a coating of ice later today, with a freezing rain warning in place for the North Bay area.

Environment Canada says 5 to 10 mm of freezing rain is possible thanks to a Colorado low that’s approaching the northeast.

The agency says we can expect freezing rain, mixed with ice pellets to begin this afternoon.

The freezing rain is expected late this afternoon and through this evening, before changing to rain overnight.

School buses across the Nipissing, East and West Parry Sound districts are cancelled today.

School transportation officials say it’s because of icy side roads and the impending freezing rain.

Schools remain open.
