A local initiative has started a provincial push to get drivers to stop for the school bus.

Let’s Remember Adam chair Pierre Ranger says the campaign is called ‘This has to stop, we need to stop’.

“There’s still incidents happening, there’s still people running the lights, people aren’t stopping,” he says. “With Adam’s 24th birthday on January 12th, we decided we were going to put a real push on and try to get some change to happen.”

Two new videos (below) have been launched.

They tell Adam’s story through the eyes of the Ranger family, almost 19 years after he was killed when a truck failed to stop for his school bus.

Ranger also says they want stop-arm cameras on all buses.

“They’re all in pilot testing right now, stop-arm camera technology is there. What I’m trying to do with this push, also, is get the government behind us and to get the government to get the regulations so that stop-arm cameras can be used easily on school buses,” he says.
