The North Bay Battalion have picked up a defenseman in a trade with Sudbury.

In exchange for a 5th round pick in the 2021 priority selection the Battalion acquire Zach Malik.

He was drafted 19th overall by the Wolves in the CHL import draft in 2017.

That gives North Bay two import players with the other being David Maier.

Malik is expected to play Thursday against Mississauga.

Stan Butler, the director of hockey operations and head coach for the Troops says Malik is a solid two-way defenceman who’s played for the Czech Republic at the under-17 and under-18 world championships and who can stabilize the young defence.
