North Bay’s second annual Science Festival is here.

The week-long initiative is all about celebrating science and technology.

Festival Chair Lora Clausen says one event tomorrow night (Wednesday) is a free screening of Science North’s ‘Wildfires! A Firefighting Adventure’.

“We’re featuring two guest speakers with the film, and it’s very fitting having all the wildfires that we’ve seen this summer. They’re going to tell us about the science behind that and all that happened this summer with the wildfires,” she says.

The festival also has coding outreach programs, Science Olympics, Science for Seniors and the big event, a Science Carnival on Saturday.

There will be over 20 exhibitors — with robots, drone technology, hands-on activities, live entertainment and science shows.

Clausen says the family event goes from 11 am to 4 pm at the 22 Wing Fitness and Wellness Centre, and is perfect for students.

“It’s an opportunity for them to get their hands on all kinds of different sciences, different fields of science and really explore and discover what they like to do,” she says.
