A provincial funding boost for health care services in Mattawa as the Algonquin Nursing Home relocates to the local hospital.
Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced the money will support new services, including respite care, a hospice suite, an Indigenous healing room and a hospitality suite.
“This health hub project will provide important new wellness services in the Mattawa area and help the community attract health professionals, new residents and businesses,” said Fedeli. “We are pleased that it will help retain current staff and create new jobs in the area.”
“We thank the province for helping us enhance health care, wellness and long-term care services in Mattawa,” said Pierre Noel, President and CEO of Mattawa Hospital. “Our Rural Northern Health Hub project will provide integrated health care services and more efficiencies that benefit residents of this great region.”
The Mattawa Hospital and the Algonquin Nursing Home offer services to residents in the communities of Bonfield, Calvin, Mattawan, Papineau-Cameron and Mattawa.
