A very special day is coming on Monday at the North Bay Regional Health Centre as the new CT scanner will be put into use.

Officials says it’s a state of the art machine.

NBRHC President and CEO Paul Heinrich says both urgent and outpatient needs will be addressed through this scanner and wait times will be reduced as a result.

As well, the new scanner requires a reduced dose of radiation than the previous scanner and provide improved quality of images.

Officials say with another scanner they’ll be able to conduct 20,000 scans a year at the hospital.
