A wide range of issues were discussed at last night’s mayoral candidate debate put on by the Near North Landlords Association.

The list includes West Ferris revitalization, transparency at city hall, the legalization of cannabis and ways to promote tourism.

President of the association John Wilson says the event was well attended.

“There’s a big interest in this election and a high interest in a lot of change. That’s what we’re reading,” he says.

Atleast 100 people took the event in.

Wilson says this debate was for the general public as they had already sent questionnaires to the candidates on landlord related topics.

One question by Jennifer Schmidt was about discarded needles and if the candidates had any solutions for paying for them to be picked up.

“As a mom I’ve seen them on the street that I live on. We were unable to get any resources in the community to clean them up. We were told to clean them up ourselves,” she says.
