Stan Butler has taken a medical leave of absence from the North Bay Battalion.

There’s no sense of how long Butler will be away from the team.

Adam Dennis and Scott Wray will share the coaching duties and Dennis will fill the general manager’s role while Butler’s away.

Dennis says there is a team approach to the coaching staff and that will help in the transition.

“We’ve done everything as a group. Our captain isn’t here and that’s going to be tough. He is just a phone call away and we’re going to lean on him but we want him to get better so he can be here,” Dennis says.

The Battalion will be back in action tonight when they host Ottawa at Memorial Gardens.

The Troops will try an end a 4 game losing streak tonight.

The team has given up 26 goals in the 4 games. Assistant coach Adam Dennis is preaching patience to his young d core.

“For young teams the hardest thing is learning how to win. We’ve won periods and hung in against good teams for parts of games but we haven’t put a full 60 in” he says.
