We’re still expecting a lot of rain in a short period of time today (Tuesday), but it’s not as much as earlier predicted.

As a rainfall warning continues, Environment Canada now says 30 to 50 mm of rain (instead of 40-60 mm) is possible by the time it ends overnight.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to move into the region with rain, heavy at times, this afternoon.

Because of the expected rainfall, the Conservation Authority has issued a flood outlook for the area.

Officials say widespread flooding is not anticipated but fast flowing water and flooding in low lying areas and roads is possible.

Current water levels in the North Bay-Mattawa region are at or below normal for this time of year.

The flood outlook will be in effect, or updated before noon Wednesday.
