A total fire ban is in effect in Bonfield Township. No open air burning is permitted. This follows bans put in place in most area communities earlier this week.

They include North Bay, Callander, East Ferris, West Nipissing, Chisholm, Powassan, Nipissing, Callander, Mattawa, Burks Falls, Sundridge, Magnetawan, Kearney and Perry.

South River, Machar Township and Temagami have suspended permits but are allowing camp fires.
