The first nomination papers for a city councillor spot in North Bay have been filed.
Rene Giroux worked in social services for about 30 years and is retired.
He tells BayToday his email address is posted on the city website to garner input.
“I want people to contact me and tell me what they feel so I can bring something to the table,” Giroux says.
He also says not everything has to be a home run, pointing out the city can win with smaller initiatives too.
As for the councillor salary, Giroux says he would donate fifty per cent of it to charity.
“If I’m not successful, then maybe I’ll give other people thoughts for what they can do,” he says.
Municipal election day is October 22nd.
