Today is World Radio Day!  World Radio Day is observed annually on February 13th and was created to celebrate radio, why we love it and why we need it today more than ever.  When I think of radio, I think of the immediacy of it and how we can break into programming any time to update listeners on what’s happening in our community and around the world.
This year’s theme is sports and when I think of great radio sports calls I think of the 1993-1994 OHL final when the North Bay Centennials beat the Detroit Junior Red Wings on home ice to win the OHL championship and advance to the Memorial Cup.  Even listening to it this morning I was transported back to that night when I heard it on CKAT on my car radio.  It still sends a chill down the spine.  Click on the link below to hear the call from Peter Handley and Dave Saad.
