Luke Burghardt scored the first goal in the Troops 6-5 win over the Wolves in Sudbury on Sunday.

But, it was his third goal on the afternoon that sealed the victory.

The left shooting centre, who was acquired from the Guelph Storm in the off-season, netted his hat trick goal with 3.9 seconds remaining on the clock.

Burghardt also scored the first of four straight Battalion markers in the third period, as North Bay stormed back from a 5-2 deficit halfway through the final frame.

The Bowmanville product has 6 points in two games, after scoring twice in Friday’s season opening 5-2 win over Barrie on home ice.

Cam Dineen, Brady Lyle and Daniil Vertiy picked up the other goals for North Bay in Sunday’s win over Sudbury.

Goalie Mat Woroniuk made two saves and earned the victory, taking over in net for Julian Sime with about ten minutes left in the third.

The Battalion are back in action Wednesday, at home to Sudbury.
