MPP Vic Fedeli is looking to the province to provide support to communities to help them deal with the opioid crisis.
In a members statement this week, he brought forward concerns from the Town of Mattawa, which passed a resolution calling for more local support.
“call for the province to, quote, enhance our local response by ensuring all places that support vulnerable people as well as first responders have access to naloxone and training in its use,” he said.
Fedeli went on to say it also echoes the call from the PC caucus and Leader Patrick Brown for a “provincially funded public opioid education campaign.”
Meantime, he also read a petition involving hunting and fishing licences.
“to cease the moratorium and allow for newer business operations to issue hunting and/or fishing licenses through paper application until the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry decides on how they will alter the process,” Fedeli said.
The petition says the moratorium is an impact on hunting and fishing licence sales and negatively impacting those looking to enjoy the outdoors.
Fedeli agreed with the petition and signed his name to it before handing it over to the Legislature.
