Local student heading to Canada's History Youth Forum this fall

A local student has made the grade and is heading to Canada’s History Youth Forum in Ottawa this fall.

St Luke grade 8 student Ally Dech is one of 26 students from across Canada to win the Young Citizens video contest.

She will represent Ontario at the Youth Forum.

Her video is about Pier 21 and documents her family’s arrival in Canada from Italy in 1966. (CLICK HERE TO WATCH)

There were 200 videos entered in the contest.

On social media, her proud parents say Ally thanks everyone who watched, commented, shared and voted for her video.

Last year’s Youth Forum, in late November 2016, included tours of Parliament, Rideau Hall, the Canadian War Museum, the Museum of Canadian History, and more.
