Infrastructure in West Nipissing is getting a boost.

Nickel Belt MP Marc Serré announced Ottawa is contributing over $500,000 towards nine new projects in the community, through the federal Clean Water and Waste Water Fund.

“These projects will have a huge impact on the quality of life, improving key municipal services and boosting regional development for years to come. Infrastructure projects play an important role in supporting communities like West Nipissing, they are essential parts of our communities and they help their families and businesses to thrive, excel and innovate,” says Serré, in a release.

Just over $250,000 is also flowing from the province, while West Nipissing covers the balance of the funding needed.

These funds will assist the Municipality to carry out many needed upgrades to our infrastructure. I am especially appreciative of the support of our local MP Mr. Serre who has advocated on our behalf in Ottawa on this file and many others,” says West Nipissing Mayor Joanne Savage.

Serré also announced over $860,000 in federal gas tax funding for the municipality, to go towards infrastructure projects.
