We told you earlier about the provinces travelling finance committee coming to North Bay.

This was part of a multi city tour to hear what the public has to stay on Bill 148, the governments fair workplaces, better jobs act.

Much of the talk has been the provinces plan for a higher minimum wage but there were other issues brought up as well.

There was a healthy delegation from organized labour with presentations from North Bay, Sudbury and Timmins.

North Bay and District Labour Council president Henri Giroux who presented says one of his concerns is the use of replacement workers during strikes or lockouts.

He says workplaces shouldn’t be allowed to use replacement workers and instead these workplaces should be negotiating an agreement to end the dispute.

He also wants improvements in paid leave for some employees.

Giroux says people will benefit overall from a higher minimum wage and it should include more workers too.
