The Hydrogen for Sustainable Northern Communities Forum has wrapped up at Canadore College.

Several sessions were held yesterday including one on Hydrogen Fueling Infrastructure.

There was a Hydrogen Hyundai Tuscon vehicle on hand and a forklift fueled by Hydrogen as well.

Michael Stemp is the Chief Technology Officer of Next Hydrogen a North Bay company .

He says Ontario is lagging behind the rest of the world in developing Hydrogen infrastructure opportunities.

Stemp they’re just starting to get to the point where the market conditions are ripe for Hydrogen as a market driver.
He says he brought the Hydrogen car to the conference to make the point that Hydrogen cars are here and have commercial applications now.

As for the forklift. Mike Cole is with Wajax.

He says Hydrogen allows you to fill up on the go.

He says a battery will last between 6-8 hours and then has to be charged which can take up to 6 hours while a Hydrogen fuel cell just needs to be refueled and can be back in action right away.
