This week is Mental Health Week.

Jenny Leblond is the executive director of the Nipissing branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association and says the theme this year is GET LOUD.

She says that means break the silence that surrounds mental health issues.

Leblond says it’s important to talk about mental illness and if you need help contact their office and they’ll detail the services that are available.

There are several events on the go this week, including a mental health fair at the Powassan Legion Wednesday night.

Thursday, there will be an education event at People For Equal Partnership in mental Health.

On Friday, they will have a display set up from 9-4 at the Northgate Shoppng Centre.

Leblond says there will be details on services, events this week and community partners they work with.

As well, there’s a variety show focusing on mental health awareness at the Capitol Centre on Friday and there’s also works by artists who have experienced mental health issues.

That is taking place at the White Water Gallery downtown.

There are also events in Sturgeon Falls.
