Rental market and housing construction numbers are in for the North Bay area.

Canada Mortgage and Housing reports 70 housing starts in the area last year.

There were 69 in 2015.

Last year’s total includes 51 single detached units, 6 semi-detached, 4 row housing units and 9 apartments.

With the rental market, rent prices were up for most apartment units in the area last fall.

The increase was $5 and $7 dollars a month, respectively, for one and two bedroom apartments.

Three-plus bedrooms were up $44 to an average of $1,124 a month.

Bachelor apartments actually dropped $3 a month from October 2015 to October 2016.
