North Bay’s mayor Al McDonald is in the Sault for the next couple of days meeting with the mayors of several other large northern centres.

He says the meeting of NOLUM which stands for Northern Ontario Large Urban Mayors started Tuesday and continues through Thursday.

He says the cities represented include North Bay, Sudbury, Timmins, Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie.

McDonald says there’s a couple big issues they want to discuss.

“One, we want to grow the north and that means job creation and two, we’re concerned just like everyone else is when it comes to high energy costs and how it affects the everyday person, and also how it affects business and industry in the north,” He said.

Other issues include Ontario Northland and the Ring of Fire.

The mayors meet 4 times a year.
